Further scientific opinion on the witness material will be requested by the Synodal Court of the Church of Cyprus regarding the case of the Abvakum Monastery, as announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, the six-member Synodal Court informs that it heard the prosecution and defense witnesses and proceeded to their cross-examination and that it "decided to request further scientific opinion on the witness material".
After receiving the opinion, the defendants will be called to an apology and then the final decision will be made, it is reported.
"We want to state once again that the process will be fair with full transparency," the announcement concludes.
According to information from the KYPE, the process was temporarily suspended and is expected to continue next week with the arrival of an expert to examine audio-visual material.
