At the end of the week, the six-member Synodal Court, which investigates the financial and moral cases of the monks of the Holy Monastery of St. Avvakum, is expected to decide, KYPE is informed.

A church source told KYPE that the estimate is that by the end of the week there will be a decision and the case will come to an end.

It is recalled that the decision of the Synodal Court was put on ice, after a further scientific opinion was requested from a second foreign expert, for the witness material that was presented.

The same source told KYPE that the only case for the case not to be concluded this week is to appeal the decision of the Synodal Court, a development which will lead to the immediate appointment of a session by the Holy Synod of the Archdiocese of Cyprus, which functions as the Court of Appeal.

The second opinion is ready

Moreover, the same information states that the second expert has already prepared his opinion, the data of which are already in the hands of the members of the Synodal Court.

What remains is to summon the accused to an apology and then make the final decision, adds the same source.

It is noted that both prosecution and defense witnesses have already appeared before the Synodal Court, as well as the first expert, who gave an opinion on the authenticity of the witness material.
