In a time of less than 10 minutes, 98,9% and 97,8% of passengers have been served at the security checks in the months of July and August respectively, according to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, noting at the same time that at the passport control points at departures there were for EU/EEA/UK/Swiss citizens at 87,6% and 90,8%, for the respective months.

In an announcement by the Ministry in relation to publications of the last few days on the subject, it is mentioned that the service times of passengers are systematically monitored at the various checkpoints at the airports and it expresses its commitment to providing a high level of service at the airports of Larnaca and Paphos.

According to an announcement by the Ministry, the airports have been designed in such a way that the waiting times of passengers are within the acceptable frameworks determined by the international standards of IATA.

In the announcement it is noted that in particular and with regard to Larnaca airport, during the months of July and August, 98,9% and 97,8% of passengers, respectively, have been served at security checks in less than 10 minutes, while in passport control points at departures rose for EU/EEA/UK/Swiss citizens to 87,6% and 90,8%, for the respective months.

It is added that the Ministry, in collaboration with the managing company Hermes Airports Ltd and the Cyprus Police, is in the process of implementing a plan to separate passenger flows, in order to increase the service speed of passengers coming mainly from EU/EEA countries, according the passport control process on their arrival and departure.

It is noted that despite the constant challenges observed in the staffing of the various checkpoints and baggage claim, and despite the rapid increase in the number of passengers passing through the airports, the Ministry considers that "with the measures taken, in cooperation with the agencies involved in airports, it will be possible to improve the service of the passenger public".
