"You launched a savage and cold attack against this animal," the judge said.
A 28-year-old Australian man will be sentenced to five months in prison for brutally killing a kangaroo in an attack he filmed and posted on social media, ABC News reported on Friday.
Ricky Ian Swan was one of four men charged in September with using weapons to torture and kill two kangaroos.
Swan chased one of the kangaroos by stabbing it 20 times and then kicked the bloodied animal on the head.
"I do not know what caught me," Swann told the court, according to the television network.
"It is disgusting. "This person in the video is not me," he added.
A court in Judalup, Western Australia, directly sentenced the 12-year-old to 28 months in prison, seven of which were suspended. Swan had previously pleaded guilty to brutally treating two animals.
Earlier in the week, a court sentenced Swan co-accused, a 26-year-old man from Perth, to two years in prison for a series of violent attacks on animals, which the court described as "monstrous".
According to government figures, the population of kangaroos in Australia is 45 million and their number is drastically reduced to 25 million.
