The deadly trap of a couple
The intention of a woman in Baltimore to help a beggar had a tragic end, as she was stabbed to death.
Jacquelyn Smith was in the car with her husband. At a crossroads he noticed a woman holding a child in her arms and a cardboard that read "please help me feed my child". She was accompanied by a man, to whom Mrs. Smith did not pay much attention. When the car stopped at a traffic light, the woman approached it and Mrs. Smith opened the window to help her by offering her some money.
But then the man who was with the beggar reached out and tried to grab Mrs. Smith's wallet. She would not let him, with the result that the stranger stabbed her in the chest.
The unfortunate woman was taken to the hospital where she died shortly afterwards.
According to the authorities, this is a well-set trap with perpetrators a 20-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man trying to take advantage of the kindness and sensitivity of unsuspecting people.
On the occasion of this tragic incident, the mayor of Baltimore, Catherine Pugh, drew the attention of the citizens, saying that they should be very careful with the beggars and not get carried away.
