Today at nine in the morning, local time, the body of Pope Francis is to be transferred to the basilica of St. Peter's. Today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, the faithful will be able to venerate the body of the late pontiff until midnight, while on Friday, the attendance of Catholic believers in the church will be allowed until 7 in the evening.
On Saturday, immediately after the funeral, the body of the Argentine pontiff is to be buried in the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, near Rome's central train station, in accordance with the wish expressed by the "pope of the poor" himself, in his will.
It should be noted, finally, that many believers who were in St. Peter's Square, speaking to journalists, expressed the desire for the process of canonization of Francis to begin as soon as possible. As had happened, that is, after the death of John Paul II, exactly twenty years ago.
