The US president is reportedly unhappy with Tehran's proposal submitted through Pakistan to end the war launched on February 28 by the US and Israel against Iran, according to US media reports.
Donald Trump did not reject the proposal entirely, but expressed strong reservations about the sincerity and good faith of the other side, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources in his administration.
The New York Times also reported on the American president's dissatisfaction.
According to press reports, Iran is proposing the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and an agreement to end the war, with negotiations on the nuclear energy program being left aside, although they should begin but their completion is not a necessary condition for an agreement to be reached.
A US official explained, speaking on condition of anonymity to the Reuters news agency, that this is precisely the reason that caused the displeasure of the US head of state.
Spokesperson for the US presidency, Olivia Wales, when asked about this, limited herself to saying that "we will not negotiate through the press" and that the other side knows "our red lines."
