A sad detail emerged on Monday, shortly after it was confirmed that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and eight other people were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday.

In particular, one of the passengers of the fatal helicopter was Mohammed Ali Al-Hashem, an Islamic religious leader from Tabriz, the city where the Islamic officials were traveling in northwestern Iran.

According to Mohammad Nami, head of Iran's Crisis Management Agency, Imam Al-Hashem survived for an hour after the crash, even trying to contact the president's office. It is worth noting that, based on the initial information that had leaked in the first hours after the crash, there had been some communication attempts by those on board the helicopter.

"No DNA tests were needed to identify the passengers," Nami said in the meantime, as reported by the BBC.

Iran's Tasnim news agency, meanwhile, reported that Raisi's funeral will take place tomorrow in Tabriz.
