An emergency security meeting was convened at 11.00 Turkish time (10.00 Cyprus time) by the Turkish President at the Presidential Palace in Ankara due to the Russian operation in Ukraine. Turkish media report that steps to be taken within NATO will be discussed at the summit.
Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines announced that it was suspending flights to Ukraine due to the war between Russia and Ukraine. In fact, the Turkish Foreign Minister in a statement addressed to Turkish citizens living in Ukraine states that "Ukrainian airspace is closed. At this stage we ask you to stay at home or in a safe place, to avoid travel ".
The statement added, however, that the necessary support and guidance would be provided to Turkish citizens wishing to leave Ukraine.
