El Salvador: 4,1 tonnes of cocaine seized in operation in Pacific Ocean

Authorities in El Salvador seized 4,1 tonnes of cocaine during an operation in the Pacific Ocean and detained five Colombian and two Ecuadorian nationals carrying the drugs in two makeshift submarines, President Nayeb Boule said.

The Navy seized "4,1 tonnes of cocaine worth about $ 103.900.000", the head of state said via Twitter.

According to the president, this is the "biggest drug seizure" that has taken place as part of his government's effort to fight crime and drug trafficking.

On November 20, Salvadoran authorities announced the seizure of 2,5 tonnes of $ 62,5 million worth of cocaine during an operation in the Pacific Ocean and the arrest of four Ecuadorians, three Mexicans and two Colombians.
