An intense confrontation between Greek MPs and the Turkish Minister of Defense, Hulusi Akar, took place in the committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Istanbul.
According to the correspondent of "Kathimerini" and SKAI in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis, during his speech, the Turkish minister reiterated Ankara's accusations about the islands, while accusing Greece of supporting terrorism.
The Greek MPs (Messrs. Libanos, Tzakri, Loverdos, Voloudakis) took the floor, answering that Greece is fighting terrorism.
They also stressed that Turkey can not talk about respecting the sovereignty of other countries, since it has invaded Cyprus and is questioning the sovereignty of many islands.
Mr Akar was responding angrily to questions from Greek lawmakers, who also said "how are you in favor of a NATO alliance when there is a casus belli and this hostile attitude".
The confrontation lasted about 12 to 13 minutes.
