Undeterred, "Mr Tesla" continues to bully his employees and the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, to leave receiving compensation.
Turning on their cellphones, Twitter workers were told by email today that they must sign a pledge to stay with the company.
"If you are sure you want to be a part of the new Twitter, please click 'yes' on the link below," the email to Twitter staff said, referring to an online form, according to the Washington Post. .
Anyone who does not sign the pledge by 5 p.m. (local time) on Thursday, as informed by the same email, will receive three months' severance pay and leave.
Speaking of a 'new' era on Twitter, Musk was quick to inform employees that they should be prepared to work in an extremely demanding environment.
"This will mean that we will work long hours and with great intensity," said the new owner of Twitter. "Only outstanding performance will be a measure of success," reads the email received by his employees today, just a week after his first meeting with staff and two weeks after he ordered mass layoffs, laying off about half of Twitter's global workforce.
"What works at SpaceX and Tesla is people are in the office and they're hard workers," Mr. Tesla argued during his first meeting with Twitter employees since the cuts.
