Sarkozy guilty of "Bygmalion" illegal financing case

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been found guilty of plotting to overthrow President Nicolas Sarkozy in connection with the illegal election campaign in the 2012 presidential election.

He is now in danger of being sentenced to one year in prison and fined 3.750 euros.

It is recalled that the Paris Prosecutor's Office had requested the referral of the former president "for exceeding the limit of pre-election expenses".

The "Bygmalion" trial began in May.

The former French president testified in court on June 15 that he did not know how the money was spent and that he had no involvement in the logistical support of the 2012 campaign, when he was running for a second term in the French presidency.
