Enrico Letta: I support Paolo Gentiloni and the center-left alliance

enrico letta Elections, Italy

Former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta expressed his support for the center-left alliance this afternoon ahead of the March 4th parliamentary elections. "The vote on March 4? I care about Italy and Europe and I want Paolo Gentiloni and the center-left alliance that supports him to come out stronger, "Letta wrote via Twitter.

The former Italian prime minister now resides permanently in Paris and has already expressed his right to vote by letter. Despite his bad relations with the center-left politician who succeeded him, Matteo Renzi, Letta decided to express his support for the Democratic Party, referring to the face of the current prime minister, Paolo Gentiloni.

Last week, the founder of the Olive Alliance and former Prime Minister Romano Prodi publicly backed Gentiloni, announcing that he would vote for one of the political forces allied with the Democratic Party.

The Five Stars presented the candidate ministers

The Five Star Movement presented to the Italian President of the Republic Sergio Matarella the list of its candidate ministers, referring to the possible post-election developments after the March 4 confrontation.

Five-star Prime Minister-designate Luigi Di Mayo first met with the secretary general of the Italian presidency. And then, according to the press, the specific list was sent by e-mail.

This is the first time such a move has been chosen before an election contest. It is clear that the message that the "five stars" want to send is that, having a lead in the intention to vote, with a percentage of 28%, they are also claiming the mandate to form a government. According to the private television channel La 7, the ministerial candidates include two university professors, Giuseppe Conte and Pasquale Trindico (for the Ministries of Public Administration and Labor) and for the Ministry of Agriculture, Alessandro Pese, for a number of years managing executive. For the Ministry of Economy, the Grillo movement is said to have chosen a finance professor, Lorenzo Fioramondi.

The full list of candidate ministers will be presented to the press and to all Italian citizens next Thursday. Its names, as it is leaked, do not only include members of the Bebe Grillo movement. It is clear, of course, that the final decision on who should be appointed to form a government should be made solely by the Italian President, based on the election results and the balance in parliament.

Italian center-left Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, however, wanted to refer to the entire "Five Stars" initiative, stressing that "we now have the absolute innovation of presenting a shadow government before the elections."
