He survived the Twin Towers and was killed in a terrorist attack in Kenya

American Jason Spindler is among the 14 victims

The American who was killed on Tuesday in an attack by extremist Islamists on a hotel complex in Nairobi had survived the attacks of September 11, 2001 and then founded a company for the development of sustainable development projects in developing countries.

Kenyan authorities have not officially confirmed that Jason Spindler is among the 14 victims of this attack. But two close relatives, Sarah's mother and his brother Jonathan, told several US media outlets that Jason had been killed.

"I am deeply saddened to announce that my brother Jason Spindler has died today in the wake of the Nairobi terrorist attack," Jonathan wrote on his Facebook page. "Jason has survived since 11/XNUMX and was a fighter. I'm sure he proved it to them! ” he added.

Jason Spindler studied law at New York University and participated in the Peace Corps volunteer program. In 2001, he worked for the investment firm Salomon Smith Barney, which had its offices in the World Trade Center Twin Towers, which collapsed in the bloodiest terrorist attack ever on American soil.

Spindler then founded the I-Dev Company in San Francisco, which undertook a program to electrify isolated areas in Kenya.

His mother explained that her son "wanted to bring about positive change in the third world, in emerging markets".

"We miss him so much. "It is very sad that such an extraordinary person has fallen victim to terrorism."
