Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has accused the West of being behind Israel's "desperate killing machine", saying Turkey has completely stopped trade with Israel.
In a speech to the Organization of the Islamic Conference's Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee, Mr. Erdogan said that “we are one of the countries that took the most decisive stance against the genocide of Gaza. We try to help our brothers with all the means at our disposal"
"We have completely stopped trade with Israel in all sectors. So we sacrificed about $9,5 billion in trading volume. We are doing our best to ensure that the perpetrators of the genocide are held accountable under international law," he said.
Mr. Erdogan added that "for 13 months, we have seen a lot of suffering in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories." “Our hearts are broken by brutality such as the use of 1-2 year old babies as sniper targets. We saw heroism and bravery in Gaza. We saw how heroically the lions of Gaza stood up against the desperate killing machine that had the unlimited military and diplomatic support of the Western powers," he said.
The Turkish President said he is once again repeating his appeal "to all countries to recognize the state of Palestine." “The founding philosophy and main goals of our organization include the liberation of Palestine from occupation. We must show our solidarity and unity stronger than ever to produce lasting solutions that will serve this purpose. It is very important that the member countries of the platform support it. Otherwise, we cannot prevent the fire that Israel lit in Gaza and is now taking to Lebanon to engulf our entire region," he said.
