"The geography of our heart has meaning far beyond Turkey," the Turkish President says in the introduction of the "Turkey Public Diplomacy Strategy Paper (2024-2029)" published by the Communications Directorate.
"We have emphasized at every opportunity that 'Turkey is bigger than Turkey' and that the geography of our heart reaches far beyond Turkey and that this is not a choice, but a historical mission," writes Tayyip Erdogan in the introductory note.
The Turkish President adds that "as a requirement of the responsibility imposed on us by this tradition, we cannot afford to remain indifferent to the events that are not taking place either in our region or in the world. Our business and humanitarian foreign policy, which we have been implementing for 22 years in the framework of the ancient tradition 'Let the people live so that the state may live', is the manifestation of our effort to fulfill our responsibility at this point."
Tayyip Erdoğan says that the field of diplomacy is expanding today, adding that they attach importance to public diplomacy that is shaped around the concept of soft power, and in this context, the National Public Diplomacy Strategy Paper was drafted. It further states that "our country, positioned as a beneficent power, strives to help the oppressed, the victims and the needy, without any discrimination, in its region and beyond, with people-centered understanding."
Akomi says that "Turkey's 'Strategic Public Diplomacy' Document (2024-2029) was prepared with the input of the institutions that carry out Turkey's public diplomacy activities under the coordination of the Communications Directorate and stands out as the first policy document of the century of Turkey". "I believe the document will direct work that will increase our country's soft power dynamics, add new life to public diplomacy, and contribute to our efforts to adapt to rapidly changing interstate relations around the world," he says.
The Turkish President says they are directing their efforts to make the "Century of Turkey" a century of communication. "The Turkish Century will be the era of Turkey's victory with its communication capabilities and technologies. It is extremely important that all our policies and actions, which are the product of the honesty of our country and the magnanimity of our nation, are known to the whole world as well as to the domestic public,” he says.
