In his speech at the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, he said that "with the accession of the Turkish Republic to us, our family became even stronger. As an organization, we have reaffirmed our strong and resolute support for the Turkish Cypriot people. We will continue our fight for the recognition of the tdvc and the lifting of the restrictions that our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters are under."
