A Fiji court has ordered the seizure of a superyacht belonging to a Russian oligarch who has been sanctioned, officials said, referring to an asset valued at more than $ 300 million.
A court in Suva, the capital of the Pacific archipelago, "ordered the seizure of the Amadea superyacht," following a U.S. warrant issued last month, the Fiji Attorney General's Office said in a statement.
The yacht Amadea, which has been moored in Lautoka, in western Fiji since mid-April, has reportedly been linked to Russian oligarch Suleiman Kerimov, who is being sanctioned by the United States and the European Union after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The court had ruled on April 19 that the Fiji authorities could prevent the vessel from leaving the country's territorial waters pending a decision on the US warrant.
Earlier, Fiji police said they were investigating a $ 107-million yacht with a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a helipad and a "greenhouse" on its decks, according to superyachtfan.com.
Many expert websites report that Kerimov is the owner, but this could not be confirmed by the French Agency independently.
