The EU is preparing to impose much higher tariffs on imports from Ukraine in the coming weeks, hitting Kiev's economy at a critical moment in its fight against Russian aggression, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, citing diplomatic sources.
The proposal, which was recently sent to EU member states, provides for a drastic reduction in duty-free agricultural product quotas, a lifeline for Ukrainian farmers and the state budget, according to the FT.
