The incident was recorded on video
A driver who refused to give priority to a blind pedestrian and then beat his companion will be prosecuted in July, an attack that was videotaped by passersby and posted on social media sites, causing outrage in France.
The driver will be tried on charges of "violence against a vulnerable person who caused his complete inability to work for less than eight days" and "refusal to give priority to a pedestrian", as explained by the Paris prosecutor's office.
The video clearly shows a black car refusing to give priority to a blind man and his companion who are already on the crossing. The vehicle passes by them and the attendant hits it on the roof. The driver then stops the car, gets off and curses, attacks the attendant while he does not hesitate to hit the blind man. An eyewitness as well as a lady in the car are trying to intervene.
When the eyewitness says he will call the police, the driver and the woman get back in their vehicle and leave. The driver was arrested on Wednesday.
