One person was killed and eight others remain trapped in a hotel near the banks of the Moselle river in Germany after parts of the building collapsed, local police said today.
Rescue efforts have proved extremely complicated, according to the police statement. According to local media outlet SWR, emergency services have not been able to enter the building due to the risk of further collapse.
The Moselle region attracts tourists for its picturesque towns and vineyards on the steep banks of the river.
