A giant is always under close medical supervision who has undergone medical surgery after a serious stomach disorder. The four-year-old male Seng Jiu, who lives at the Hangzhou Zoo, has been in critical condition since Friday, the day he underwent surgery. A week ago, his bodyguard found that he ate little and his blood pressure was alarmingly low.

The doctors who examined him ruled that he was suffering from acute gastric distention and immediately transported him to the operating room, where he underwent four hours of surgery. In the next 48 hours, everything suffered from gastroesophageal reflux and it is not yet clear if there will be postoperative complications as to date no such incident has been recorded in the medical records, according to a representative of the Panda Reproduction Research Center in Sichuan.
