Steve Witkoff announced today that Ukraine and Russia have agreed to proceed with a new prisoner exchange, the first in five months, during their trilateral negotiations in Abu Dhabi, which the American special envoy described, expressing his satisfaction, as "productive."
"Today the US, Ukrainian and Russian delegations agreed to the exchange of 314 prisoners - the first of its kind in five months," Witkoff announced in a post on his X social media account.
"This outcome was secured thanks to in-depth and productive peace talks. While significant work remains to be done, progress such as these shows that continued diplomatic engagement is producing concrete results and contributing to efforts aimed at ending the war in Ukraine," he assured.
Witkoff added that talks will continue and that additional progress is expected in the coming weeks.
