A Colombian mother has committed suicide by jumping off a bridge while holding her 10-year-old son in her arms.
The incident took place at the La Variante Bridge in the Ibague community in the westwestern Colombian region of Tolima.
Jessy Paola Moreno Cruz was holding her son, May Ceballos, on the edge of the 100-meter-high bridge because of eviction from their home due to debts.
Negotiators, psychologists, ambulances and, in general, anyone who believed that he could persuade the 32-year-old not to carry out her threat arrived in vain, but in vain.
At some point, she stops being held and she and her son jump into the void, resulting in a tragic death.
The video shows a rescuer saying, "Oh my God, he fell," while another emergency worker collapses in shock.
One of the people who tried to change her decision, firefighter Rafel Rico, said: "They begged her not to do it and tried to persuade her to stop but unfortunately she made the deadly decision."
Jessy Paola Moreno Cruz had financial problems and was recently evicted from her home, with Ibague Mayor Guillermo Alfonso Jaramillo saying: "The incident has a lot to do with the terrible situation we are facing in Ibague and throughout Colombia. ».
