Turkey plans to pursue its targets in northern Syria after completing a cross-border operation in Iraq against outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, a senior Turkish official said today, following Sunday's deadly bombing in Istanbul.

The Turkish government is blaming Kurdish militants for the explosion on Istiklal Avenue in Istanbul on Sunday that killed six people and injured more than 6.

Threats posed by Kurdish fighters or Islamic State to Turkey are unacceptable, the official noted, adding that Ankara will deal with threats along its southern border "one way or another."

Turkey has launched raids three times in northern Syria against the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, which Ankara says is a wing of the PKK. The PKK has been designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the European Union.
