Azerbaijan Airlines has announced it is suspending flights to seven Russian cities, Russian media reported, after its plane crashed in Kazakhstan during a flight to Grozny, Chechnya.
The Russian Interfax news agency reported that Azerbaijan Airlines will continue its flights to six major Russian cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Earlier today, an Azerbaijan Airlines plane bound for the Russian city of Mineralnye Vody returned to Baku after being informed that part of Russian airspace in southern Russia had been closed, according to Russian news agency TASS.
An Azerbaijan Airlines plane flying from Baku to Grozny, Chechnya, crashed in Kazakhstan on Wednesday.
Russia has announced that no conclusions should be drawn until the investigation is complete.
Four Azeri sources told Reuters yesterday that the aircraft may have been hit by Russia's air defenses.
