The flames continue to burn everything in their path in southern California, where the small and brief weakening of the winds has facilitated the work of the fire brigade, but thousands of homes remain under threat.
As of early December, nearly 710.000 acres have been reduced to ashes by Monday in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara in the north and San Diego in the south.
The largest front in Ventura County, between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, was under 15 percent control this morning and threatens 15.000 buildings, according to the California Fire Department. The fire has destroyed almost 540 buildings and burned 600000 acres of land.
The evacuation order also came for the Ojay Valley.
However, the fire is heading north to Santa Barbara, where authorities began evacuating areas near the Los Pandres forest yesterday.
In all, nearly 4.000 firefighters have been mobilized to help put out the "Thomas" fire, as it is officially called, one of the 20 largest wildfires in California history, according to environmental protection NGO Climate Nexus, which considers responsible for the disaster unfolding climate change.
