The total investment will reach $ 2,9 billion
Earlier this year, Canadians voted to legalize cannabis for recreational purposes, and it has been sold freely in various specialty stores for several weeks.
In a country with 36,7 million inhabitants, it is easy to understand that this is a big market. So big that it attracts various "Colossi" to invest in this piece, with the most characteristic being the company that makes Marlboro.
Altria Group Inc., which is behind the most famous cigarette brand in the world, announced its decision to invest a total of 2,9 billion dollars, of which 1,8 will go to Cronos Group to buy 45% of the percentage in the production of cannabis for medical and recreational purposes, while the other 1,1 will go to secure the licenses provided.
As it is easy to understand, investments of this size put more pressure on countries where even today the use of this substance is taboo.
