China's Ministry of Commerce has said it will fight the customs duties imposed by the US "to the end", after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose additional 50% tariffs on the world's second-largest economy if Beijing does not withdraw the countermeasures it announced.
"The US threat to escalate tariffs on China is one mistake added to another (…). China will never accept this. If the US insists on following its own path, China will fight (the tariffs) to the end," a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stressed.
