Japan: The miracle of saving 379 people who got out alive from the burning plane (BINTEO)

Moments of agony were experienced by the 367 passengers and 12 crew members of the Japan Airlines aircraft immediately after its collision, during landing, with a coast guard plane and the large fire that broke out.

Moments of panic ensued, with passengers – including 8 children – scrambling to evacuate the burning aircraft before it was completely destroyed. In the end, according to the Japanese government and Japan Airlines, all 379 people were able to evacuate in time, faithfully following the necessary instructions. In the meantime, in its briefing, the Tokyo Fire Service reported that 17 people (passengers and crew) have been injured.

The following videos show how the passengers and crew were rescued via the special inflatable slide

Meanwhile, videos circulating online are believed to show the interior of the Japan Lines aircraft before it was evacuated.

The material was also republished by the Sky News website, however pointing out that its authenticity has not yet been verified.

Footage broadcast by state-run NHK television shows the plane engulfed in flames while stuck on the airport's runway, with passengers being ejected from it using an inflatable chute. Firefighters are also seen on the scene trying to put out the fire. The aircraft was completely destroyed.

A Japan Airlines spokesman said the plane had taken off from Hokkaido's Shin-Chitose Airport in northern Japan and the fire broke out when it landed at Haneda Airport on Tuesday afternoon local time.
