Deadly floods in western Japan have killed at least 141 people, the government has said.
At least ten more people are officially missing, government spokesman Yoshihide Suga said.
Already, Japanese media are reporting on an even higher number of victims.
"The 75.000 police, firefighters, soldiers and coastguards are doing their best to locate and rescue the victims," the government spokesman added.
Research and cleaning work are now underway in the hot sun, as temperatures will reach 35 degrees in the shade and sunshine is expected to last at least a week.
The devastation caused by torrential rains in western Japan late last week is the worst of the extreme weather events to hit the archipelago in more than XNUMX years.
