A 24-year-old elementary school teacher in Wisconsin, US, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly having an affair with her 11-year-old fifth-grade student — less than three months before her wedding.
Madison Bergman's seduction of the 11-year-old boy came to light when his mother overheard her son talking to his teacher on the phone, according to CBS News Minnesota.
The parents of the minor boy reportedly found messages on their child's cell phone exchanged between the teacher and the student, with the 11-year-old's father storming into River Crest Elementary School with the persuasions.
Madison Bergman is also accused of telling the boy how much she liked to touch her, according to the text messages they exchanged, which are now in the hands of the authorities.
Inside her purse, police also found an envelope with the juvenile's name on it that contained several handwritten notes talking about how much they kissed.
In one of the letters, Bergman reportedly wrote: "I know we have a special relationship and I love you more than anyone in the world, but I have to be the adult here and stop."
It's not clear how long the seduction went on, but Bergman told investigators she got the boy's phone number from his mother in December when the 11-year-old's family invited her to the Afton Alps for a winter vacation.
It was the same month she got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, according to social media.
According to the document, when officers asked about text messages exchanged between the two, Bergman invoked her right to an attorney.
The accused teacher has since been placed on administrative leave and prohibited from contacting students, parents or district staff, the Hudson School District told parents the same day as her arrest.
According to her social media, Bergman was due to get married in July – less than three months after her arrest. "The wedding has been postponed indefinitely," a friend of Sam Hickman said Saturday.
"And it probably won't happen. Sam is really upset and heartbroken. He is embarrassed and angry. He didn't deserve this. Everyone is outraged," he added.
The couple's wedding page on popular wedding website The Knot has been taken down.

Bergman is facing charges of sexual assault on a minor. After her arrest, she was released on $25.000 bail. She was banned from being near schools and participating in school events.
He will appear in court on May 30.
