Hero: Iran honors 15-year-old who saved two women from flames

A fire broke out on September 9 in Ijeh (southwest), in an apartment of a building, where 15-year-old Ali Ladi lived, according to Iranian media.

15time managed to get two women out of the apartment where the fire had started, but while trying to prevent the flames from spreading further, he suffered severe burns, according to the same sources.

The teenager died yesterday, Friday, having suffered "burns to 90% of his body", Emam Kazem Hospital in Isfahan (center), where he was treated, said in a press release.

The two women, an 80-year-old and her daughter, suffered superficial burns, according to Iranian media.

Iranian social media users today hailed "the courage of a real hero." The photo of the 15-year-old, smiling, dominated the front page of most newspapers in the country.

The office of Iran's supreme spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has contacted the Ladi family to convey their condolences, the official Irna news agency reported.

"Iran's history is enriched by the many (…) sacrifices of heroes who lost their lives for human ideals," Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi wrote in a message posted on the presidency's website.
