A more pessimistic picture than Donald Trump's for the course of the war in Iran was described by Israel's ambassador to Washington, Yechiel (Michael) Leiter. The US president said that the regime is essentially finished, that its missile stockpiles are being depleted, and that the Strait of Hormuz is in "excellent shape."
Leiter, however, clarified that Iran hides missile launchers in mountainous areas, which makes it more difficult for the US-Israeli alliance to find and destroy them.
“They are hiding the launchers in the mountains… this makes it difficult for us, so the operation will take longer,” the Israeli diplomat said. When the Strait of Hormuz is opened and secure, we will see a further drop in oil prices, he said on Wednesday evening before the new rise.
He clarified that the strategy concerns "regime collapse" so that Iran permanently ceases to be a nuclear threat and exporter of terrorism. As long as the Iranian regime maintains a nuclear and ballistic threat over the head of the planet, oil prices will be at their mercy, he warned.
Responding to reports that the US-Israeli attacks caused global oil prices to rise, Leiter said: “Some media outlets have reported that this is the reason for the increase in oil prices. Well, that is not true. The fuel depot belonged to the IRGC. It was not oil that was circulating on international markets. This was a source of funding for the IRGC, which we removed. After the president’s statements yesterday, we saw the price go down.”
