A large-scale cyber-attack on a public hospital targeting a public hospital has occurred for the first time in Israeli history, forcing the hospital to use "alternative systems" to resume operations, Israeli authorities announced Wednesday.
Israel is "experiencing a completely unexpected big attack" with redemption, said the director of the Israeli Cyber Security Service, Ugal Una, during an online conference on international cooperation in combating redemption attacks.
The ransomware exploits security vulnerabilities to encrypt and block computer systems, demanding ransom to unlock them.
