The new Government of Italy is sworn in at 4 pm local time. The new Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte presented his list of ministers at the end of his meeting last night with the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Matarella.

As previously announced, the leaders of the Five Stars and the League, Matteo Salvini and Luigi Di Maio, will be Deputy Prime Ministers, and Ministers of Interior and Labor, respectively.

In the new Government there will be a Ministry for Lower Italy, and for the family and the disabled. The new Minister of Finance is Professor Giovanni Tria, while his colleague Paolo Savona takes over the Ministry of European Affairs.

"We will work intensively to achieve the political goals contained in the government contract and to improve the quality of life of Italians," said Giuseppe Conte. The Government is composed of the League and the Five Stars. Eventually, Italy's far-right Brotherhood party announced that it would abstain, while the new government would be voted down by both the center-left Democratic Party and Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia.

"We worked hard, now I hope there are no more surprises," said Lega Secretary Matteo Salvini from Milan.
