A dramatic scene unfolded in Italy, leading to the evacuation of 200 passengers from a Ryanair plane.
In particular, the incident occurred at Brindisi airport, when shortly before take-off, a flame suddenly broke out in an engine of the aircraft. According to the Mirror, fire brigades immediately arrived at the scene. Passengers were safely evacuated via the inflatable emergency slide. The flight was cancelled.
The airport was forced to close temporarily, with a spokesman saying: “Due to a technical problem with an aircraft preparing for take-off, Salento Airport in Brindisi has been temporarily closed. Passengers were safely evacuated via the emergency chutes.
All operations were carried out with maximum safety for passengers and crew. Passengers are already at the airport where Aeroporti di Puglia staff are assisting them. The company's technicians are working on the interventions of their competence and those necessary so that Aeroporti di Puglia can proceed with the next checks for the usability of the runway and proceed with the re-operation of the airport".
