Cassia Galanio, a 45-year-old Polish woman, was the third wife of 73-year-old billionaire Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the uncle of the current emir of Qatar. They married in 2004 and have three daughters. As it had become known, the 45-year-old woman was fighting a court battle with her ex-husband for the custody of their children, for over 15 years.
She had accused him of sexually abusing one of their three daughters, with him denying it.
The Paris court had rejected the requests for custody. Galanio suffered for months from nervous breakdowns and as a result, the judge adjourned the case until a psychological assessment was made.
Spanish justice has ordered an autopsy - the autopsy of the body, which is scheduled for today.
Princess Cassia Galanio was born in Krakow before moving to the United States as a child. She studied at California State University and worked briefly for Morgan Stanley before her life changed completely in 2004, when she met her husband on a visit to Paris while taking a break from her studies. She never returned to college, as she lived the fairy tale με with the prince and married Al-Thani with whom she had three daughters: Sheikha Malak, Sheikha Yasmin and Sheikha Reem.
Cassia was then presented as a perfect princess of Qatar, although she preferred to live in Marbella, Spain. In 2009, she won an unknown amount from Barclays Bank after helping her husband dismantle an alleged € 50 million fraud.
However, she claimed that her husband never reciprocated her faith and during their marriage she complained that he continued to abuse both her and one of their children.
On April 14, Princess Cassia's 17-year-old daughter filed a lawsuit in a French court accusing her father of sexual assault when she was between 9 and 15 years old.
About a month ago, she gave an interview to the "Women's World Show TV" in which she referred to her ex-husband Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
