Draconian security measures in Israel ahead of today's ceremony to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The ceremony will take place at 4 pm at the same time as clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli security forces continue in various areas.
The move follows Donald Trump's announcement in December 2017 that the United States would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The official ceremony will take place in the Arnona area of Jerusalem, which is now officially converted into the embassy of Washington in Israel.
Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem are holding events marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel, which Palestinians say was the day of the "catastrophe." Events are also taking place in Bethlehem, Hebron and Jericho.
In the morning, Israeli Air Force planes dropped leaflets to warn the Palestinians. "Take part in violent riots, endangering your life. "Hamas is taking advantage of you to hide its failures by endangering the lives of your family members," the pamphlet said in Arabic.
