The Somali Islamist militant group al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility
At least five people have been killed today in an attack by Somali extremist Islamists on a hotel complex in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
A French Agency photojournalist said he saw five corpses on the terrace of a restaurant in this building complex, which also houses several company offices.
According to the same witness, a short distance away was the body of a suicide bomber who probably detonated an explosives belt he was carrying.

Meanwhile, Kenyan police chief Joseph Bouane said the attack in Nairobi could be a terrorist act.
"A group of unknown gunmen attacked the Dusit Complex in what we suspect is a terrorist attack," he said.
In a briefing to reporters he said that armed perpetrators may still be in the building and that the police operation is ongoing.
The Somali militant group al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the US-based jihadist website Surveillance Center, citing a post in its propaganda agency, and a spokesman for the group told Reuters.
