The Beijing regime demonstrated China's military capabilities with the military parade that took place at dawn today (Greece time) under the watchful eye of Xi Jinping as well as leaders such as Russia and North Korea.
As the Guardian reports, the Chinese government displayed everything from armored vehicles and drones to ballistic missiles, with some of the weapons systems appearing in public view for the first time.
This category includes the DF-5C intercontinental ballistic missiles, which, as reported by the Xinhua agency, are the latest generation of missiles that can even carry nuclear weapons, with information indicating that these missiles have a global strike range.
At the same time, fighter jets and stealth aircraft flew in the skies over Beijing, as did long-range nuclear-capable H6 bombers and J-16 and J-20 fighters that usually carry out harassment missions in Taiwan's air defense reconnaissance zone.
Chinese media claimed that the new J15-DT electronic warfare fighter, which is being closely monitored by military observers, also made an appearance at the parade.
The Dongfeng-61 missile, a hypersonic missile with a vertical launcher, which, according to analysts, makes it "much more difficult to detect and, therefore, to hit before its launch," also paraded through the streets of Beijing.
The formations of the men and women in uniform who paraded in Beijing were also impressive, with the Chinese singling out the female members of the militia.
“The parade is a clear demonstration of China’s growing military capabilities, intended to make the US, Europe and China’s neighbours think twice before challenging Beijing’s core national interests,” Drew Thompson, a senior fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, told the Guardian.
