A total of 97 new deaths and 2.015 new confirmed cases of coronavirus that has caused a pneumonia epidemic were recorded by the health authorities in mainland China yesterday, Tuesday, the National Health Commission announced today.
Both numbers are lower than the previous ones (108 and 2.478 respectively). The number of new cases confirmed yesterday is the lowest ever recorded since January 30.
The total number of deaths due to the epidemic was 1.113 as of midnight on February 11, while the total number of confirmed cases is 44.653. Most deaths (94) were recorded in Hubei Province, the outbreak of the epidemic, as were most newly confirmed cases (1.638). The virus was first detected in Wuhan, the provincial capital, in December.
