Russian President Vladimir Putin has not spoken to his US counterpart Joe Biden since the start of the war in Ukraine, but contact between the two leaders could be resumed if necessary, the Kremlin said today.
"If necessary, contacts (between Biden and Putin) can be resumed," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov told reporters.
"Imposing sanctions on senior US officials does not mean cutting ties," he added.
Russia yesterday imposed sanctions on top US officials, including Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, in response to US sanctions.
