Danish police announced early Thursday that the unmanned drones that were spotted early Wednesday night in Jutland are no longer in the airspace above Aalborg Airport.
Earlier, four airports in Denmark had suspended operations due to drones seen in various parts of the country, two days after Copenhagen International Airport was closed for the same reason. These are the airports of Aalborg, Esbjerg, Sønderborg and Skrydstrup, where the Fighter Wing Skrydstrup base, home to Denmark's F-16 and F-35 fighters, is located.
Police announced that there are similarities between the incidents, noting that the suspension of Aalborg Airport also affects the country's armed forces as it is also used as a military base.
"It is too early to say what the target of the drones is and who is behind them," a police official said, as authorities' investigations are ongoing.
The unidentified drones spotted in North Jutland are no longer above the airspace of Aalborg Airport, police say.
On Monday night, the Norwegian capital's airport was closed for about three hours due to unmanned aircraft spotted in the Oslo area.
