It turned out that there was nothing suspicious
The incident in Madrid, where the authorities evacuated the train station Atocha, the largest in the Spanish capital, turned out to be a false alarm.
According to the Renfe company, the station was evacuated by order of the Police but shortly after it turned out that there was nothing suspicious.
The train station was the site of a 2004 bombing in Madrid that killed 193 people and injured 2.000 more. It was the deadliest attack in the country, and police attributed it to Islamists close to al-Qaeda.
There was also an alarm in Barcelona, where two lines were closed and trains were evacuated at the city's main train station, after suspicious baggage was found. After the investigations, the Police announced that it was not something dangerous. Shortly afterwards, the traffic of the trains at the station was restored.
