Canadian Prime Minister's trip to Germany canceled
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney canceled a planned trip to Germany after the shooting, his office said, citing Reuters. Carney was scheduled to attend the Munich Security Conference, which typically lasts several days and is expected to host more than 60 heads of state and government. The agenda for the talks included issues such as artificial intelligence, critical supply chains, support for Ukraine and NATO.
In a statement, he stressed that he shares the grief of Canadians and thanked the rescuers and members of the rescue teams “who risked their lives to protect their fellow citizens.” He also added that the federal government “stands with all residents of British Columbia as they deal with this horrific tragedy.”
