The residents of the city blamed Kamatsos for not building the road network, not securing the water supply and not improving the school infrastructure for their children. At one point while Kamacho was trying to give answers, some of the residents immobilized him, put a noose around his neck and demanded $ 15.000 to set him free.
Kamacho was eventually released with local media reporting that he had paid the ransom, although he himself denied that such a thing had happened.
