A pair of swimming goggles was the only thing found after a British man was attacked possibly by two sharks overlooked off the coast of Western Australia.
After two days of research, the swimmer is now considered dead.
This is 57-year-old Paul Millachip whom his wife, who did not want to be named, described as "a wonderful man and father"
The police with the assistance of rescue vessels and helicopters "combed" the area around the Port Beach in Fryantl, which belongs to the Metropolitan area of Perth, looking for an adult man.
The investigations were fruitless and the police stopped them late on Sunday.
Authorities thanked the swimmers who ran to get other swimmers out of the water.
"I can say that the actions of the eyewitnesses were heroic and very courageous. "Because they took everyone out of the water and informed them of what was happening," said Inspector Emma Barnes during a news conference.
According to data from the Taronga Environmental Protection Agency, an Australian government agency responsible for running zoos in the country, 17 unprovoked shark attacks have been recorded in Australia this year and two deaths.
