Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the Knesset podium to applause, exchanging warm greetings with Donald Trump, whom he welcomed.
"We remember our friends, we know your contribution and your determination," Netanyahu said, noting that the return of the hostages was a moment of joy. "How long we have been waiting for this moment to come. I would like to thank you on behalf of the entire nation," he said.
“Mr. Speaker, the Knesset welcomes you to Jerusalem, our eternal capital. You were the first to recognize it and move the embassy. We thank you very much for that. There are many reasons to thank you. Thank you for recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, for having the courage to confront the lies told against Israel at the United Nations, thank you for recognizing our rights in Judea,” he said. “Thank you for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” he added.
"Donald Trump is the greatest friend the state of Israel has ever had in the White House," he stressed.
